Ask for a written drive-away figure that itemises registration, stamp duty, dealer delivery and any on-road costs. "From" prices usually exclude these, and options such as solar, lithium batteries or an annexe are often quoted separately.
Most new caravans are built to order. Get the build slot and handover date in writing, with what happens if the factory runs late, and never pay more than a modest deposit until the caravan is on the dealer's floor.
Confirm the ATM on the compliance plate against your tow vehicle's braked capacity and tow-ball limit before you sign. Ask what suspension and coupling are standard versus optional — an off-road package can add several hundred kilograms.
Ask how long the structural, appliance and water-ingress warranties run, whether an annual service at the selling dealer is required to keep them, and where the nearest authorised repairer is to where you actually travel.
Book a full handover: every appliance run on 240V and gas, the water system filled and checked, the awning cycled, and the weighbridge ticket sighted. Photograph the compliance plate and keep every document — it is what the warranty and any resale will rest on.
